22nd Street Viaduct (CMAR)
Owner: City of Tucson Location: Tucson, AZ
Project Overview
This project consists of a twin 5 span viaduct with spans up to 376 feet, founded on 10-foot diameter drilled shafts, a pedestrian bridge, MSE & cast-in-place retaining walls, new roadway construction, underground utilities, traffic control, surface concrete and paving features of work. This project will provide enhanced traffic flow and safe passage of heavy vehicles through this busy corridor. Utilizing the CMAR process, we collaborated with the integrated project team to develop the most efficient and innovative design possible to provide schedule and cost certainty. A key challenge to this project was the planning and coordination required to prevent disruption to the 10 heavy rail line, 6 freeway lanes, and pedestrian traffic during construction.
